Workshop Details
Join Liza Frank, author of Household Lore, Folklore, Traditions and Remedies for Every Room in Your Home as she explores the hidden folklore that surrounds you in your home, exposes some of the reasons why things might go bump in the night, divulges some simple divinatory techniques using household objects and gives tips on how to protect your home from all manner of visitors. There will also be practical demonstrations and audience participation (for those brave enough).
Presenter Bio
Liza Frank grew up watching B-movies and dreaming of being Chrissie Hynde before working backstage in theatre and film for over a decade. She has written extensively about folklore for The Everyday Lore Project and has a Masters in Folklore Studies from University of Hertfordshire. Her second book 'Everyday Folklore, An almanac for the ritual year' was published with Murdoch in 2023 and her latest book 'Household Lore, Folklore, Traditions and Remedies for Every Room in Your Home' published with Watkins in November 2025. She also writes as the Folklore Agony Aunt using folklore to solve problems where conventional advice has failed, and searches for sons of preacher men to persuade them to teach her something. In 2007, her slightly wild photographic exhibition was published as the book 'My Celebrity Boyfriend'. She still dreams of being a rock chick.
