In a world full of information overload, we often forget to come back to ourselves—to our breath, our bodies, and our inner compass. At the Mind Body Spirit Festival in May 2025, two extraordinary experts led us through a powerful experience that invited exactly that: a complete and empowering return to self.
Becoming the Conscious Author of Your Story with Hannah Wallace
This session with disability activist Hannah Wallace began with a deep inward journey—into the solar plexus, where we were invited to meet a guide, be it an angel, a passed loved one, or a symbolic animal.
With eyes closed, we spiraled down an internal staircase into a sacred, safe room—one we’d either visited before in dreams or never seen until now. In this sanctuary, we confronted the old stories that had silently shaped our lives. They played out in a mirror before us, vivid and real.
But then came the shift.
What if we could dissolve those stories? What if we could watch them fade and instead create space for new ones—stories born from possibility rather than pain?
From this place of conscious authorship, we weren’t just observers anymore. We were invited to imagine every sensory detail of this new story: what we smelled, what we wore, what we touched and heard. And then, we stepped into it.
There was no pressure to feel ready—just an invitation to begin. The act of choosing a new narrative, of anchoring that story as a golden ball of light and sending it deep into the earth, reminded us that our power is not something we need to find. It’s something we already carry.
Move More at Your Desk with Kerrie-Anne Bradley
After this soul-level reset, it was time to get into our bodies. Kerrie-Anne Bradley, Pilates instructor and founder of Pilates at Your Desk, brought the energy, the humour, and the movement.
She had us shake, shimmy, twist, hug, and even become “big stars.” But this wasn’t just about exercise—it was about reclaiming ease in our bodies, especially after years of desk work and bad posture habits.
We learned about “active sitting”—engaging our core, sitting on our sit bones, and giving our overworked back muscles a break. The movements were delightfully playful: elbow swimming, butterfly hugs, even drawing infinity signs with our arms.
Kerrie-Anne also demystified “good posture.” Turns out, most of us overcorrect—sitting bolt upright and locking up. Instead, she taught us to soften, to breathe, and to use subtle exercises to balance tension in the body.
Try it for yourself at home:
- - Sit bone squeezes for pelvic floor and core engagement
- - Infinity arm hugs for upper body release
- - Seated cat-cow for spinal mobility
- - Side bends and spinal twists to rehydrate the spine
- - Jaw and neck release to soften stress stored in the upper body
Find more wisdom for the everyday this November
Perhaps the most powerful takeaway came at the very end, as both leaders reminded us of this: you are not the old story. You are the conscious author of your life. Your version of success doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s.
You don’t need to wait for permission.
So the next time you feel stuck, maybe just take a deep breath, wiggle your sit bones, and whisper: ‘I am safe in this new story. I am safe in my body.’
See you at the NEC this November to see Hannah Wallace grace the Midlife Wisdom stage once again. Catch her on Saturday 15th November at 12.30pm - see you there!
